DOMINICAN COLLEGE: 3rd PAASCU visit (by: Hannah Plopinio)

With the institution's primary concern for excellence, Dominican College had the PAASCU (Phillipine Association of Accredited Schools, Colleges and Universities) revisit last February 17 and 18, 2011 for its Level 2 - re-accreditation.

PAASCU is a non-profit organization whose main objective is to incorporate the efforts of schools and institutions to life and improve the standards of education in the Philippines. Schools accredited by said organization are considered to have met the standards for quality education.

Five years ago, Dominican College was granted Level 2 accreditation. After the previous visit, the school has embraced changes including minor revovations in the campus, various strategies incorporated with the UBD system such as the use of multimedia projectors, KWL charts, performance tasks.

During the first day, the school's facilities were visited and classes both in the Grade School and High School Levels were observed. On the second day, randomly selected students from BED and members of the faculty were interviewed by the accreditors in the Audio Visual Room regarding the following: College/School Community Involvement, Faculty, Curriculum and Instruction, Library, Laboratories, Physical Plant, Student Services and the Administration.

One of the main points why the school has applied for re-accreditation is not only to be accredited, but to see which aspects/areas need further improvement, hence leading to more quality education for the school to be globally competitive.
